The State of Georgia is committed to ensuring that victims are afforded their rights as provided by the Georgia Crime Victims Bill of Rights. To further enhance services provided to crime victims, many state agencies have joined forces to form the Multi-Agency Victim Services Partnership. This partnership is a collaboration of state agencies working to restore Georgia victims their dignity, safety and well-being by providing leadership, guidance and information to crime victims and their families through communication, partnership and education. Below is a list of its current members:
Administrative Office of the Courts
The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) provides support services to the courts of Georgia. AOC administers funds appropriated to the Judicial Council Committee on Domestic Violence, staffs the Judicial Council Task Force on Domestic Violence Courts and manages the Committee on Justice for Children, as well as the Commission on Interpreters
Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
The Georgia Crime Victim Compensation Program (CVCP) helps victims and witnesses of violent crime who are injured or threatened with an injury. CVCP will compensate for medical and dental care, mental health counseling services, income loss, crime scene clean up, and funeral expenses when the costs are not covered by other sources.
Department of Corrections
The Corrections and Parole Board, Office of Victim Services, provides post sentencing support, notification and information to crime victims, their families and members of the community. They also work with victims or their families to answer their questions and keep them notified of activity on their case
Department of Juvenile Justice
DJJ is committed to providing services to victims of juvenile crime who deserve a better quality of life for themselves and their families. The agency provides assistance to victims through victim advocacy, victim notification, and assistance in obtaining court ordered restitution or crime compensation funds
Department of Public Safety
The Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Georgia State Patrol responds to and investigates over 50% of the motor vehicle fatalities and accidents with major injuries in the State of Georgia. These include DUI and other accidents with a serious injury statewide. Governor’s Office for Children and Families
The mission of the Governor's Office for Children and Families (GOCF) is to build capacity in communities to improve outcomes for Georgia's children, youth and families
Governor’s Office for Highway Safety
The Mission of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety is to educate the public on traffic safety and facilitate the implementation of programs that reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities on Georgia roadways
Prosecuting Attorneys Council
The Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia provides research, training, administrative and trial support services to the hundreds of elected and appointed prosecutors across the State of Georgia. Elected and appointed prosecutors represent the interests of the state of Georgia and victims of crime in Georgia's courtrooms.
